The Project Amazon mission is sponsored by the Oticon Hearing Foundation and will bring sustainable hearing care to the residents of the remote riverfront communities that surround the Oticon Clinic in Parintins. The two hearing care professionals share their insights and accomplishments through daily blog postings.

Ellen Avoletta

Ellen Avoletta is a third year Doctor of Audiology student at Illinois State University. She has an interest in pediatric audiology, and has recently earned a Listening and Spoken Language Graduate Certificate through the School of Deaf Education at ISU as a part of the pediatric audiology specialty track. Ellen is actively involved in humanitarian outreach in her community through the Special Olympics Healthy Hearing initiative and ISU’s Student Academy of Audiology. Lindsay M. Bondurant, Ph.D.

Lindsay M. Bondurant has completed her Ph.D at the University of Texas at Dallas, and additionally has an M.S. from Vanderbilt University and a B.A. from the University of Florida. Prior to pursuing her Ph.D, Bondurant was the Director of Pediatric Audiology at Temple University Children’s Medical Center in Philadelphia, PA. Her research interests include self-regulation and school readiness in children with hearing impairment, along with improving diagnostic and rehabilitative service-delivery models for children and families in clinical audiology settings. In addition to her teaching and research interests, Bondurant has service interests that include humanitarian outreach in developing areas of the United States, Latin America, and Africa.   Posts by Lindsay M.
